Feeling poorly this Winter?

Hello again guys! I hope you have been enjoying the snow! In the UK a lot of it is covered in a white blanket of cold goodness! Unfortunately I have had a horrible cold and missed out playing with my daughter outside! Hopefully I'll be able to take her out in the next few days so I don't totally miss out on the snow fun.

I thought, after a long weekend of feeling poopy, (yes, poopy) I would share a few products/ things I have done to make me feel at little more human.

Number 1: Moisturiser! With a runny nose comes a lot of tissues and rubbing, (yuk) which means that your poor nose will start getting sore and make it uncomfortable to blow. I have been frequently moisturising my nose this weekend and although it was still red and a little sore, it was much better than previous illnesses where I haven't bothered and just put up with a sore nose. The moisturiser I used was Nivea; Soft. I love this moisturiser, it does exactly what it says on the bottle. What more could you ask for?

Number 2: Olbas oil! Sleeping at night with a blocked/runny nose can make it difficult to get to sleep/ stay asleep. I found that Friday night (first night of feeling poorly) I could hardly sleep because I constantly had to wipe my nose and have a drink because my throat was so dry from breathing through my mouth. On Saturday my mum came over and gave me some Olbas oil to use. She said to put a few drops on my pillow and it would help clear my nose for the night so I could sleep properly. I've never been more grateful to a product for allowing me to get some sleep. I can honestly say it worked for me! Although, be warned, remember where you put it on your pillow because if you put your face on it, it'll make your eyes water, haha.

Number 3: Lip Balm. I find that a good lip balm is essential in Winter and during an illness. Cracked and chapped lips can sometimes add to the pain of feeling poorly and we don't want that now do we? Keeping your lips moisturised is a great way to prevent that. I have been using Vaseline; rosy lips. Obviously you don't have to use the rosy lips one but I found that it added a little bit of colour onto my face and made me look just a little bit less ghoul- like.

Number 4: A hot shower. Being poorly can make you feel really grubby and nasty and nothing beats a cold better than a nice long hot shower/bath. Not only does it make you smell better (after a lovely swetty night with a high temp) but it makes you feel just that little bit more human than you did before you got in. Plus an added bonus is that the steam can help clear up your sinuses a bit. Oooohhh lovely :)

^ doesn't that shower look snazzy ;) ^

I hope something I have written above helps you beat the 'Bug blues' and makes you feel better soon!

Just a little side note: Remember to take medicine, its honourable that some of you think that you will be fine with no medicine but make it a bit easier on yourself. Paracetamol is good for lowering temperatures and Ibuprofen is good if you have achy muscles that sometimes comes with feeling poorly. Drink plenty of water and eat little and often rather than big meals. Yes, I'm a Mum. I'm allows to nag about these things ;)

Until next time my lovelies!

7 Things for 7 Days!

Hello again lovely people!

This weekend I was having a nice read on Louise's blog, sprinkle of glitter, and found a love for her 7 things posts. Its easy to see that they have inspired me to write my own! 7 simple tasks to do over 7 days. Sounds like a winning idea to me!

1. Keira's bedroom- Ever since Christmas Keira's bedroom has become a bit of a mess (to say it nicely). Lots of new presents and clothes means making room for all the new stuff and its not easy when you live in a flat and have no extra storage space. However, I WILL get it sorted, one way or another!

2. Under my bed- Like I said above, our flat has no storage space meaning we have to make the best use possible of cupboards and under the bed. Thinking of how often I go under the bed to get something is slim to none. It makes me think that there must be loads of stuff under there not worth keeping since it's never being used. So a grand sort out is in order!

3. Freezer- I don't know about you but my freezer ALWAYS has stuff sitting at the bottom that never gets used. So I'm going to have a dig around and try and use up what I've got before I use anything I get from the food shopping this week.

4. Make another YouTube video- I always seem to be low on idea's for videos. So this week I'm going to be sitting myself down and writing out 10 ideas for videos and filming at least one of them.

5. Message my Nanna- My Nanna recently joined Facebook to stay in contact with the family since all of us live worlds apart and I haven't been the best grand daughter when it comes to messaging her. So one day this week I'm going to write her a lovely long message telling her what I've been up to and what's been happening in my life.

6. Have a 'me' day- Busy days and time flying by so fast you don't know where the days go. Yesterday I realised I can't remember the last time I sat down and had a little 'me' time. A nice face mask, LUSH bath, paint my nails, do my eyebrows and generally make myself feel a little bit prettier.

7. Plan meals- Before I next do my food shopping I'm going to plan out some healthy meals for me and the family and write down what I need. Come the weekend before I do the food shopping we normally have very little to choose from for dinner and reach for the take away menu, but not anymore! Me and Daryl really need to start saving money for our plans this year and a take away a week is not going to help. So with a good meal plan and some yummy snacks we should be putting away those menus for longer!

Those are my goals for the next 7 days! Hopefully I will do as many as possible if not all of them! Feel free to leave the links below to any lists you have made! I'd love to read them!

Until next time my lovelies!

First Date!

Hello my lovelies :)

You probably will find it hard to believe what this post is going to be about but i'll explain more as we go!

So this Saturday just gone (yesterday as I'm writing this) I went on my first ever date with my hubby-to-be Daryl. He took me to our local Harvester (restaurant) and we had a lovely meal together. We got to talk about serious things going on in our lives and things happening in Castle Clarke this year. But I think the best part is we actually got to sit down and talk about silly stuff too! No talk of bills or work or stuff happening in the family, just normal young couple chit chat. It was my first ever real date. I have been out with previous boyfriends before but it was normal group dates/ sitting bored while they chatted to other people! I feel so much closer to Daryl now, (if thats even possible!). Its the little things that keep me happy but the fact he put in the effort to take me out after helping me deal with my illness for so long was like he was sent for me from heaven. He really is my knight in shining armour! In more ways than I'm willing to write on the internet too. He really has changed my life around for the best and took me away from the demons holding me captive! (No, I do not mean my parents haha!).

Now, I know you must be thinking, why has it taken so long for you to go out on a date?

You may not know but me and Daryl have actually been together 3 years in April. When we first began talking he saw past all the things that I saw myself as 'Imperfect'. He didn't even bat an eyelid when I told him I had a little girl :)

When I met him I had a couple of illnesses. I had Gastric problems which made me feel sick 24/7 and I had deep depression (although I didn't know that at the time). It made it hard to try and begin a relationship when everyone was telling me that I needed to concentrate on myself and get better, but I knew I couldn't let him go. So, I didnt. We spoke about my illness for a while and decided to meet and see how we felt seeing each other after having such deep conversations. I think the best thing for me was how natural it all felt. We never really did go on a date though, the first time we met was at my mums house so it wasnt exactly a date. From there on we became joint a the hip :D. We spent as much time together as we could, felt horrible when we were apart and the rest is history ;). So hopefully that explains why we never had a first date, also the fact that he helped me through those illnesses and managed to get me in a mind set where eating in a public place was an OK thing to do. Is it sad to say I'm a little proud of myself for doing it? Well tuff, I'll say it anyway, I'm very proud of myself.

What a great start to the year for me and my little family. I hope this is a good sign of things to come!

Until next time my lovelies!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year guys!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a great New Year!

It's that time of the year again when we all set ourselves goals that we fully intend to do. However, most of the time it never happens. This year however I will not be setting myself any goals. Instead I am just going to get organised! It is easier to keep control of your life when you know what is going on! For example, keep a folder in with a divider, on one side have letter of bills that need to be paid and the other with letter of bills that have been paid. Simple things really. If your mind is at ease of what is going on around you then it seriously reduces stress.
I'm a huge fan of organisation. I use it with everything from food shopping to bills, from my wardrobe to my make up!

Most of all this year, for me, I want to be happier. Last year I was very ill. I suffered with deep depression and stomach ulcers. It took me a long time to get better and I refuse to let myself get that way again.  Me and my partner have big plans for this year and will hopefully be one of our best yet!

Until next time my lovelies!
